What is Zeolite?

Zeolite is a mineral that has volcanic origins. The name ‘zeolite’ originates from the Greek words ‘zeo’(to boil) and ‘litos’ (a stone).

Zeolite is most popular for its ability to remove heavy metals and toxins including mercury, aluminium and ammonia from the body.

The porous structure of zeolite is negatively-charged, and most heavy metals and toxins are positively-charged, so zeolite attracts heavy metals and traps them inside its structure before safely removing them from the body.

What Happens After Zeolite Attaches to Heavy Metals?

Once zeolite attaches to a toxin, it forms a bond that is almost impossible to break. This ensures that the toxins are safely removed and not deposited in any other part of the body.

How do Heavy Metals get into the Body?

New carpet can contain high levels of lead, cadmium and mercury.

Aluminium pots, pans and aluminium foil can leach aluminium into food.

Unfiltered water can contain chromium, lead, cadmium and nickel.

Amalgalm (silver) dental fillings contain mercury.

Beauty and personal care products, especially lipstick often contains lead, cadmium and aluminium.

Antiperspirant deodorant often contains aluminium.

New furniture and matresses are made using dyes and fire retardants that contain heavy metals.

Paint on older houses can contain lead.

Signs of Toxin Build-Up in the Body

Some of the most common signs of toxic build-up include:

  • fatigue
  • constipation
  • bloating
  • gas
  • bad breath
  • headaches
  • brain fog / trouble concentrating
  • low immunity
  • aches and pains
  • nausea
  • belly fat
  • skin rashes
  • mood swings

Chronic toxin exposure contributes to almost every health condition and disease.

Benefits of Detoxification

Many opponents of detoxification programs say that the body has its own natural detoxification pathways and additional detox support isn’t required, but with the increased level of toxins we face on a daily basis, those pathways can become overburdened.

Supporting your detoxification organs and pathways with zeolite is an excellent way to achieve optimal health.

Some of the benefits you may notice from detoxing include:

  • Increased energy
  • Clearer skin
  • Reduced inflammation
  • Better digestion
  • Improved mood
  • Easier weight management

Zeolite for Reducing Bacteria and Viruses

Long term supplementation with zeolite in animal studies has been shown to decrease the presence of E. coli, mycotoxins and viruses including herpes simplex virus type 1. [1]

Zeolite for Ammonia Detoxification and Leaky Gut

Excessive production of ammonia is common in athletes, people eating high protein diets and people with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and ulcerative colitis.

Athletes often report symptoms including nausea, stomach and intestinal cramps, vomiting, and diarrhea. These symptoms can arise from typical athletes’ diets with a high protein content, where excessive protein fermentation can occur and is accompanied by higher ammonia release in the intestine and increased intestinal wall permeability (also known as leaky gut).

In one study, endurance athletes were recruited and supplemented with a zeolite/dolomite/maca-based product.

Supplementation for twelve weeks showed positive effects on the intestinal wall integrity and decreased intestinal permeability. [2]

Common Questions about Zeolite for Detoxification

Is Zeolite Harmful for Human Consumption?

Zeolite is harmless for people to take as a detox supplement.
It travels through the body’s natural elimination channels in a safe manner without damaging the organs or tissues in any way.

Does Zeolite Have Any Side Effects?

Zeolite has no known side effects. It is non-toxic and remains in the intestinal tract. It’s not absorbed into the body from the gastrointestinal system.

Does Zeolite Remove Helpful Minerals like Calcium and Magnesium from the Body?

No, zeolite won’t remove beneficial minerals or vitamins from the body.

Zeolite contains minerals including calcium, potassium and magnesium that help to alkalize the body.

Can Zeolite Make You Tired?

Zeolite can cause a healing crisis (herxheimer reaction) if you detoxify too fast. This can include fatigue, headaches, nausea and flu like symptoms, so it’s best to start with a small dosage and build up over time.

Remember to drink lots of water and include plenty of fiber from fruits and vegetables in your diet to keep your bowels moving.

How Long Does It Take For Zeolite To Work?

It depends on your level of toxicity but it’s recommended to take zeolite for at least 90 days.

Quicksilver Scientific Ultra Binder latches onto toxins including heavy metals, pesticides, herbicides, drug residues, food additives, mold and bacterial toxins and safely removes them from the body while also supporting the health of the intestinal lining, gut motility and the growth of friendly flora.

It contains Zeolite along with Gum Arabic, Bentonite Clay, Activated Charcoal, Chitosan and Aloe Vera.

It’s a good idea to discuss any detox supplements or remedies with your healthcare provider because some supplements and herbs can interact with prescription medications.

Final Thoughts on Zeolite for Detoxing Heavy Metals

Zeolite is an effective natural detox supplement that can boost your overall health in many ways. Along with its ability to safely remove heavy metals and toxins from the body, it can help to alkalize the body, improve mood and gut health and strengthen the immune system.
