10 BEST MEDITATION TOOLS
1. Essential oils
Essential oils can help to calm and relax your body and mind, allowing you to go deeper into meditation.
An essential oil diffuser is one of the best tools for meditation because it disperses essential oils around the room while you meditate, creating a peaceful, calming environment.
Some of the best essential oils to use while meditating include:
Lavender – one of the most popular essential oils for calming the nervous system, reducing stress and easing restlessness.
Ylang Ylang – helps with relaxation, relieving stress and releasing negative emotions.
Chamomile – a helpful essential oil for reducing overthinking, stress, worry and anxiety.
2. Scented Candles
Some people like to use a candle as a focal point while meditating. It can be calming to watch as the flame flickers.
Essential oil scented candles can help to create a calming, relaxed atmosphere in your meditation room.
Look for aromatherapy candles made from natural soy wax like the ones shown below.
A mala is a string of beads that helps you to count mantras during meditation.
There are usually 108 beads on a mala along with a guiding bead or tassel, which marks the beginning and end of the meditation.
Malas can be made from a wide range of materials including sandalwood, crystals or rudraksha seeds.
4. Singing Bowl
Concentrating on the sound of a singing bowl as it becomes quieter and quieter is a good way to start your meditation.
The sound of a singing bowl can help to lead you into a deep meditative state.
To create a sound with a singing bowl, press the mallet against the rim of the bowl and use a circular motion until you hear a clear tone.
5. Meditation Bell
Meditation bells are another meditation tool that can be used to mark the beginning and end of your meditation session.
The sound of a bell can help you to focus on the present moment, while also promoting a sense of peace and calmness.
6. Meditation Chime
Meditation chimes can be used in a similar way to singing bowls and meditation bells to bring your mind to the present moment and lead you into meditation.
7. Muse Headband
The Muse Headband is a helpful meditation tool for anyone that struggles to quiet their mind.
The headband picks up on the electrical activity of your brain while you meditate.
It then sends a signal to the Muse app on your smartphone, which gives you real-time feedback through the sounds that are played.
The quieter your mind is, the calmer the sounds become.
If your mind starts wandering, the sounds change to remind you to go back to a calm state of mind.
The app keeps a record of your sessions so you can track your progress over time.
8. Noise Cancelling Headphones
If you’re trying to meditate and keep getting distracted by noise from traffic outside or noisy neighbors, noise cancelling headphones can help you to shut out those sounds.
You can also listen to calming music like binaural beats or a guided meditation to help you go deeper into meditation.
9. Affirmation Cards
A good way to center your mind while meditating is to focus on a positive affirmation.
There are some great card decks with beautiful affirmations that you can pick at random to receive an affirmation to focus on.
Most times the card you pick is exactly what you need to work on.
I like the affirmation cards by Louise Hay. They’re bright and colorful with beautiful affirmations to uplift and inspire you.
If you haven’t heard of Louise Hay, she was the author of the bestseller, You Can Heal Your Life, along with more than 30 other books.
I love having crystals around my house and I often use them while I’m meditating.
You can hold them in your hand while meditating or place them around your meditation space.
Some of the best crystals to use for meditation include:
Clear Quartz – helpful for focus and amplifies the energy of other crystals. It can also be programmed with your positive intentions.
Rose Quartz – helps to promote feelings of love, positivity and harmony.
Amethyst – helpful for relieving stress, anxiety and enhancing your meditation.
