Essential oils can help to reduce the symptoms of stress, anxiety and depression but they’re not a cure. [1]

If you’re suffering from acute anxiety or depression, please see your doctor or health practitioner without hesitation.

Here are 7 calming and relaxing essential oils that can help with anxiety:

1. Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia)

Lavender is one of the most well-known calming and relaxing essential oils.

Lavender essential oil contains linalool and linalyl acetate, which help to calm the nervous system and help with insomnia, restlessness, irritability, panic attacks and nervous tension. [2]

I like to keep lavender essential oil with me so if I’m feeling stressed I can inhale the scent straight from the bottle or rub a couple of drops into my hands.
